We believe everyone deserves to eat.
We believe that addressing hunger and its roots causes is a responsibility shared by the public and private sectors and concerned individuals to ensure the health, vitality, and well-being of our communities and nation.
We believe that building a vibrant, resilient, and thriving community requires that we challenge ourselves and others to deeper levels of conversation and action.
We believe that everyone has gifts to share toward ending hunger and its root causes: our time, our talents, our voice, and our food and financial resources.
Changing lives one recipe at a time.
Second Harvest’s innovative Providence programs are building lasting solutions to end hunger and poverty. Our work provides culinary and life skills training and opportunities to gain résumé building work experience that changes lives, one recipe at a time.
Our Providence Culinary Training kitchen and classrooms are located in the heart of Second Harvest Food Bank of Northwest NC’s warehouse, highlighting the connections between opportunity, health, and good food. Providence’s social enterprises include dining-for-a-cause restaurants and catering; a community meals program that provides healthy, prepared meals for children and seniors; and management of hospitality services and accommodations at Tanglewood Park in Clemmon, NC. We invest in people to make individual lives better and help our communities thrive.
